Emirates Golf Federation Provide Pathway For Success For Local School Kids Ahead Of Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final (11 October 2018)

The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) has teamed up with the Ministry of Education to offer four schools across the UAE a unique opportunity to learn golf with a PGA Teaching Professional in the lead up to the season-ending Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final.

Al Jazeera Boy’s School, Al Salamah Girls School, Khawler Girls School and Al Dhait Girls School are taking weekly introductory golf lessons at Al Hamra Golf Club – the home of the season-ending Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final – for four weeks during school hours.

185 children are learning the fundamental skills required for golf through four fun-filled lessons with Ross McArthur, PGA Teaching Professional at Al Hamra Golf Club. Each lesson is focussing on a different aspect of the game from gripping the club correctly and getting into the perfect stance to putting and distance control exercises.

“I’m proud to be associated with this EGF initiative and help improve the grass roots level of the game,” said McArthur. “It’s great to have so many children down at the club learning the fundamentals and they all have a smile on their face which is great to see.

“It would be great to unearth the next hot prospect for the UAE National team and we hope that after four weeks of fun lessons many of the children keep playing the game as the sport offers loads of physical and social benefits.”

After the four weekly lessons, the children will be invited back to Al Hamra Golf Club to put their skills to the test with one of the top 45 European Challenge Tour golfers holding an exclusive clinic for the youngsters ahead of the season-ending Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final.

The Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final is now only three weeks away and the top 45 players on the Road to Ras Al Khaimah Rankings will go head-to-head at Al Hamra Golf Club from Wednesday October 31 to Saturday November 3 in a bid to secure one of the 15 coveted European Tour cards available for next season which are awarded to the top 15 players in the Rankings following the conclusion of play.

Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi, EGF Secretary General, said:

"With major events coming to the UAE like the Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final, the EGF uses these tournaments to showcase the game of golf to the younger generation. At the Emirates Golf Federation it is our mission to introduce the game of golf to as many Nationals as possible. By teaming up the with Ministry of Education we are providing this opportunity to schools not only in Ras Al Khaimah but the entire UAE. By hosting four weeks of introduction lessons with these schools leading up to the event we are showing the students and future players the pathway to success."
