RAK International Airport and RAK Transport Authority (RAKTA) have agreed to develop a number of services designed to enhance connectivity within the Emirate, as well as promote their mutual business interests.
The first phase of the product development is already underwayand is a pilot scheme to connect RAK City Centre (Nakheel) to RAK Airport. The service is targeted at airportstaff as well as travellers who could use the more economical option to come to the airport.
Andrew Gower, RAK International Airport Director said: “RAK Transport Authority is a key strategic partner in ensuring the development of a good surface access network and connections across the Emirate and we are delighted to be working in collaboration with them.
“Connectivity to and from the airport is a crucial ingredient for our success, and we are fortunate to have such excellent partners who share and support our aspirations.
Over the coming weeks a number of other services will commence, such as limousines and officially regulated taxis.
“We are also developing a priority product called Al-Awlawiyyah, which will offer the limousine service alongside business lounge access and fast-track passenger processing at the airport,”added Gower. “This is a major innovation, offering traditional business-class convenience to economy passengers – but provided by the airport.”
